Roelant [ roo-lahnt ] is the Dutch version of the French name Roland (pronounced in English as: roh-luh-nd or rəʊlənd ), from the Old High German Hrodland, often interpreted as “fame” or “honor” (hrod) and “land”, a variation on Hrodnand (nand = “daring”).
